The same feeling is very present in my preparations for Korea, though. I’m compiling documentation for my visa, but I can’t get the last few bits without returning to Spokane. I’m thinking about teaching and debate, but I won’t know what it’s about until I do it.  And I’m fretting about my ability to learn Korean and communicate, but I can’t bring myself to start learning just yet.

All and all, I wish that everything would hurry up and move on already.

Instead of taking up user names where I’ll never follow through with posting, I figure I’d be better off beginning here, again.

A. Definition

A partner is someone who sticks with you when you let them down. They hurt you and betray you, but the cycle of loyalty is too deep and too strong to let you leave them, either. No matter what, you can’t get away, and even if you could, you would be worthless without them.

When we were little, my parents encouraged creativity by having a gift-making policy: we had to make a present for each member of the immediate family, in addition to the store-bought normal ones, and send a group-made gift to our cousins.  I always loved this the most, thinking up elaborate projects and begging my mom to let me use glue guns by myself so I could make her gift.  I’m not sure when this tradition died in my family, probably when my siblings and I started getting too busy with school and activities, but I’ve kept it as my own little tradition for myself.  Last year, I had decided not to do it, but three days before Christmas I was itching to craft, so I went for it anyway.  There’s nothing better than staying up all night of Christmas Eve, painting, knitting, gluing, and decopaging in my room!

Even though I have quite a while, I’m getting antsy about starting my Christmas projects.  As soon as I get home to my huge tubs of craft supplies, I know I won’t be able to control myself- nor, truly, would I want to!

Looking at next semester, the overfilled schedule I intend to take, debate, and interning at the capital, I wonder how I’ll find time to do things which actually pay. It’s not that my parents won’t help me out- they will, I’m just already so far indebted to them and feeling ridiculously guilty and inadequate as a result.  I know such is the plight of the college student, but still, I have to wonder: just how necessary are basic needs?

I love prancing down the hall at the Capitol or swaggering up to check postings in by sexy-cheerleader-intern skirt and a tight blue button-up. My perfect black kitten heels (having accompanied me across the country several times and now to South America) click in rhythm with my swinging pleats, and people look at me like they’re practicing synchronized swimming with my fluid outfit. I slide on my charcoal peacoat to return to campus or scamper to a round, feeling like a professional princess. Add a crown, and I’m confident I could rule the world.

1) Sushi: Began as a summer project, but ended up too easily conquered.  Still enjoyable as a superbly healthy lunch every so often, and a fun entry on the cultured resume.

2) Rachel Ray’s Lasagna Casserole: You know you’re an adult when you take pride in making casseroles, and you know you’re on the way to homemaker-hood when you’re watching Rachel Ray.  Oh well… it was tasty enough to ignore those warning signals.

3) Raspberry Sherbet: Currently in my freezer, made with sun-soaked raspberries my family picked on Saturday.  Amazingly simple recipe, though I’m not yet sure how it will work out.  So far, it looks like a raspberry smoothie, but I’m staying optomistic!
